I might as well just throw my money in the trash.
I admit it. I’m a very frugal shopper. If I can find a good deal, I will scoop it up! I mean, why not save money where you can, right?
What I found out, though, is that I have actually spent more money on “cheaper” cat trees from Chewy and Amazon than just springing for the more expensive cat trees specifically designed for Maine Coons.
Seriously…I have bought THREE cat trees costing between $90-$120 each in 2025 alone. Don’t ask my what my cats do to these things because I have NO CLUE, BUT I’m glad their claws find their way to the trees and less on my furniture. Not only did they claw through the sisal ropes and make holes in the cardboard, they shed the fabric on the tree and I’m stuck vacuuming almost daily (because I can’t handle mess).
I decided to bite the bullet and buy a cat tree STAND from Cat Tree King (no, I’m not a sponsor but if you have, or are planning to get a Maine Coon, I’d like to share my lessons learned). It cost me about $220 but this thing is STURDY!!!!! I was sold.
Comparing the cat trees, the ones from Amazon and Chewy tend to have smaller posts and aren’t necessarily made for the weight of a Maine Coon. Cat Tree King can sit a 200lb human (ok, maybe 150lbs per the image of a woman, but I’m almost certain a baby elephant can sit on these and the tree would stand strong).
Black Friday came around (yeah, baby…still trying to look for a deal) and I bought not one, but THREE cat trees from Cat Tree King and kicked my Chewy and Amazon trees to the curb (I actually gave them away for free to neighbors since the local shelters wouldn’t take my very loved AKA used trees).
I’m confident that these trees are a great investment and will last me YEARS. If you find yourself in a similar cat tree woe situation…check them out. I wouldn’t steer you wrong.
